These are family members with evidence that they were killed in the Holocaust.
Those listed here are the sisters and brothers and other relatives of my great-grandfather Armin Nivert. He emigrated to the U.S. in 1903, probably for economic reasons, and convinced his wife to join him with their young son shortly after. At that time Budapest was just entering its golden age, a brief era of tolerance when possibilities for Jews must have seemed limitless. It was only after the chaos of World War I that anti-semitism and fascism began to gain followers, and the atmosphere continued to grow worse over the years. I can only imagine that it must have seemed incredible to the Jews living in Hungary that the situation would grow as dire as it did. Our family living in the U.S. tried to do what they could to assist as the stories about what was going on in Europe emerged, but by that time it was too late.
To honor their memories, and their lives, I'm trying to gather as much information as I can about those who were killed in the Holocaust. Here are the names I have been able to find so far:
Ferenc Neuwirth. Son to Ignacz Neuwirth and Johanna Pick. Died in Auschwitz, December 1944, age 64.
Ida (Skrek) Neuwirth. Husband of Ferenc Neuvirth. Died in Auschwitz, December 1944, age 65.
Szeren Neuwirth. Wife of Emil Einhorn, daughter of Ignacz Neuwirth and Johanna Pick. Died November 1944, age 51.
Gyula Neuwirth. Husband to Anna Friedrich, son to Miksa Neuwirth and Fani Blau. Died in Yugoslavia, 1945, age 45.
Anna (Friedrich) Neuwirth. Wife of Gyula Neuwirth. Died in Auschwitz, July 1944, age 38.
Agnes Neuwirth. Daughter of Gyula Neuwirth and Anna Friedrich. Died in Auschwitz, July 1944, age 17.
Zsuzsanna Neuwirth. Daughter of Gyula Neuwirth and Anna Friedrich. Died in Auschwitz, July 1944, age 2.
Sandor Klang. Husband of Julianna Neuwirth. Died in Auschwitz, May 1944, age 45.
Julianna (Neuwirth) Klang. Wife of Sandor Klang, and daughter to Miksa Neuwirth and Fani Blau. Died in Auschwitz, May 1944, age 45.
Abraham Lazar. Husband of Ilona Neuwirth. Died in Auschwitz, 1944, age 41.
Ilona (Neuwirth) Lazar. Wife of Abraham Lazar, daughter of Miksa Neuwirth and Fani Blau. Died in Auschwitz, July 1944, age 35.
Istvan Spitzer. Son of Jeno Spitzer and Matild Weisz. Died 1943, age 32.
